Kohima, July 29: The monsoon session of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) scheduled on Thursday has been deferred to August 13.
“Certain unforeseen developments have emerged prompting the deferment of the sixth session of the 13th NLA scheduled for July 30 at 9:30 am,” NLA Commissioner and Secretary Dr P J Antony said Wednesday.
Accordingly, he said, the Governor has indicated August 13 for the deferred sitting of the Assembly.
6 staff of NLA tests positive
Earlier, following the detection of six staff of NLA as COVID-19 positive on Wednesday, the Kohima District Task Force (DTF) as per the SOP on preventive measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 had ordered sealing of the Assembly office for 48 hours with immediate effect.
Kohma Deputy Commissioner, Thejawelie Gregory, who is also the Chairman of the DTF, in a letter to the Principal Secretary Home informed that the decision to this effect was taken during an emergency meeting of the Kohima DTF today.
The DC also informed that fumigation and disinfection of the Assembly secretariat premises is being initiated, following all health safety measures and SOPs of the Government.
Advisor Mhathung tests COVID positive
Besides, the Assembly staff, Advisor Mhathung Yanthan also tested positive for the virus while his driver and bodyguard and also results of two support staff of Advisor R Khing had also come positive during the day.
The sealed area is mapped and cordoned off and the public and all concerned have been advised to follow safety precautions of wearing masks all the time, frequently washing hands and maintaining social/physical distances to ensure public hygiene and personal safety within the proximity of the sealed area.
Subsequently, the Commissioner and Secretary issued the deferment order of the session. (Page News Service)
