Naga tribes present cultural diversity on Day-9 of Hornbill Festival

Dimapur, December 9: The 9th day of cultural extravaganza witnessed various tribes of Nagaland presented by the Department of Art & Culture with the theme “Cultural Connect” was held at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama on December 9.
The session was graced by Pr. Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Chaitali Panmei as the chief guest, while Advisor, School Education & SCERT, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome was the host and Advisor, Minority Affairs & Sericulture, Imkongmar and MLA, S. Toiho Yeptho were the co-hosts. Honoured guests were Chief of Party, Reckitt Project, Dr. Komal Goswami and Executive Director, Plan International (India Chapter), Mohammed Asif. Traditional blessing was invoked by the Tribal Guest from Sangtam Tribe, S.Tsapise Sangtam.
The programme was marked by traditional dances and folk songs from Pochury Cultural Troupe; Deyjang Rey Rey (folk song of the East), Rengma Cultural Troupe; Mezokhwe (Weeding song), Phom Cultural Troupe: Umo Esho (Love songs), Sangtam Cultural Troupe: Shong Ngutaba (Top spinning), Lotha Cultural Troupe; Yantsso Khen (Rikhyo khen) dance, Sumi Cultural Troupe; Angushu kighikile (Tiger’s fight), Konyak Cultural Troupe; Tsai Si, Tikhir Cultural Troupe; Tsioh Lakti (Traditional seed game)-Women’s indigenous game, Khiamniungan Cultural Troupe; Hailaiam (Traditional marriage), Yimkhiung Cultural Troupe; Muyimru (friendship dance), Chang Cultural Troupe; Odang Onet (Group Demonstration), Zeliang Cultural Troupe; Hanglei-lim, Chakhesang Cultural Troupe; Dame phisho (folk song), Garo Cultural Troupe; Dim dim chong (folk song), Ao Cultural Troupe Horak lanu (Leisure game), Kachari Cultural Troupe; Khopri Sibnai Mwsanai, Angami Cultural Troupe; folk dance, Kuki Cultural troupe; Lom Lam (Lom Dance).
The afternoon cultural session was organized by the NEZCC Dimapur where colourful dances and songs were performed by cultural artists from 8 North-Eastern States of India: Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Sikkim and Tripura.
Earlier, the event was graced by Goa Public Service Commission chairman, Jose Manuel Noronha as the chief guest, while Advisor, Civil Administration Works Division & Taxes, Kudecho Khamo was the host and Advisor, Transport & Technical Education, Temjenmenba and MLA, C. Manpon Konyak were the co-hosts. The honoured guest was GOC 3 Corps, Lt. Gen H S Sahi.
