Naga Issue: NPCC says mass resignation will show 60 MLAs’ sincerity

Nagaland News

DIMAPUR, JULY July 18: Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has asked all 60 Members of Nagaland Legislative Assembly to resign, reasoning it will only demonstrate their sincerity “towards implementation of political solution” vis-à-vis Indo-Naga political issue.

A press release by the Party on Sunday informed that this was one of the 3-point point resolution adopted at the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of NPCC meeting held on July 16 at Congress Bhavan, Kohima.
On the recent formation of Parliamentary Committee and Core Committee on Naga political issue, the meeting decided to urge all 60 legislators to resign and pave way for urgent implementation of political solution, as there is nothing more to talk according to GoI Interlocutor, who is also the Governor of Nagaland, it stated.
The party meeting cautioned Assam Government on passing The Assam Cattle Preservation Bill, 2021 ~ which, it stated, is bound to create more trouble for neighbouring hill States and destroy the age-old ties that have withstood the test of time.
“Recent border provocation from Assam side by deploying Armed Police personnel well ahead of neutral forces (CAPFs) deployment is of serious concern. Both Assam and Nagaland Government have taken the wrong path in resolving the long-standing boundary disputes, Assam Government for provocation and Nagaland Government for timid response. Since the matter is still pending in Supreme Court, Assam Government must stop its provocation and withdraw its armed police personnel from newly occupied positions. The CAPFs deployed along the disputed border areas must be placed under direct control and supervision of MHA”, the Party asserted.
