Naga Issue: JLF to form core committee

Dimapur, February 12: A consultative meeting of the Joint Legislators’ Forum (JLF) on Naga political issue held Wednesday decided to form a core committee comprising of elected members irrespective of party affiliations to urge the Government of India and all the stakeholders for an early settlement of the Indo-Naga political issue.
The meeting held under the chairmanship of Sharingain Longkumer, Speaker, Nagaland Legislative Assembly on February 12 in the conference hall of the Assembly Secretariat deliberated extensively on the Naga political issue and felt the urgent necessity for achievement of an early negotiated political settlement, said a press release issued by the NLA.
The meeting entrusted the nominating committee to form the core committee. The nominating committee members are Sharingain Longkumer, Speaker & Chairman, JLF; TR Zeliang, Leader of Opposition; Neiba Kronu, Minister, Parliamentary Affairs and S Pangnyu Phom, Minister, Health &Family Welfare.
Later in the meeting, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio released the booklets on Profile of the Speakers and List of Members from Interim Body to the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly. The CM also appealed to the ex-parliamentarians gathered to support the effort of JLF for Naga political solution.
Minister, Planning and Parliamentary Affairs, Neiba Kronu also distributed laptops to all the parliamentarians and ex-parliamentarians. (Page News Service)
