Naga Hoho demands roll back of Covid-19 cess

Dimapur, May 5: While acknowledging the sincere efforts of the state Government to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in the state, the Naga Hoho regretted that the decision of the government to impose cess on the prices of fuel would largely impact the consumers of the state.
The Naga Hoho urged the state government to roll back its decision to impose Covid-19 cess on fuel.
The Hoho said instead of easing the suffering of the general public arising out of the sudden lockdown, the government has acted in a manner that would make the lives more miserable due to the steep hike in the petroleum products.
“This thoughtless decision to impose cess would encourage illegal activities like hoarding of goods by unscrupulous business people which would ultimately result in significant rise in the prices,” theNaga Hoho stated in a press release.
It further advised the state government to desist from adopting such anti-people measures.
