Kohima, May 15: Another Naga died this evening in Bangalore due to unknown sickness.
Sources said a girl identified as Vikani Zhimomi of Zuikhu-A village under Dimapur district died today from Victoria Hospital at Bangalore. She was reportedly rushed to hospital under critical condition but shortly after died of high fever. Sources said her test result for possibility of COVID-19 was awaited to confirm the exact cause of death.
Sources said if her test result is negative, Naga people will go ahead with formal procedures for the final rest of the deceased.
According to sources, the family of the girl wanted the dead body be brought to the State by road for burial at her native village.
In another COVID-19 related case, an Army man of 1st Assam Regiment reportedly died on May 13 from Military Hospital in New Delhi. Reports said victim, who hails from Moayimti village in Mokokchung district was undergoing treatment for cancer since last year when he was infected from another patient from the same ward. He will be the first Naga victim of COVID-19.
The army personnel is survived by his wife and two daughters.
The body of victim was buried in New Delhi, according to a source.
During the period of nationwide lockdown at least five Nagas have died under different circumstances. (Page News Service)
