Naga darters to participate at Nat’l C’ship

Kohima, September 16: Two Naga darters Limatoshi and Vikehelie Suohu are all geared up to represent Nagaland at the 2nd Professional Darts Cooperation (PDC) India qualifier for World Darts Championship and 4th National Darts Championship scheduled on September 21 and 22 in Chennai under the aegis of Indian Darts Federation.
This was announced by Naga Dart Association (NDA) secretary Burakum Ao during a press conference held at India Trail office in Jail Colony here this evening.
He said that this is the first time that Naga darters would be participating at professional championship. Among the north eastern states also, Nagaland is the first state to be competing in such event, he said, adding that they would leaving the state on September 20.
Burakum highlighted that ever Since the formation of Naga Darts Association (NDA) in December 2012 at Life Pro Cafe, Mohonkhola, Kohima, they have already organized two Nagaland Open Dart Tournaments in Kohima in March 2013 and just last month. He informed that they have also initiated tournaments in Dimapur and introduction of Dart in various cafés and church.
Besides promoting the game, NDA encourages the youth to engage in this gentlemanly sport, it can be taken up as a profession at any age group except for children below 12 years, he said.
The NDA is taking this pioneering effort to promote darts games in Nagaland by collaborating and affiliating with recognized agencies and sponsors thereby facilitating committed opportunities for the darters to a higher level of competition.
This year’s participation at Chennai is mainly sponsored by India Trail, Zumvü Printex, Fun Tree Crew (FTC), Lineage, LifePro and Metalgear besides few dedicated members and well-wishers, he said while acknowledging them.
NDA president Limatoshi said that the Association aims to promote the sport by introducing at suitable places gradually throughout the state and identify darters to represent at national as well as international levels. NDA has conducted a handful of Tournaments and year round Tourney.
During the press conference, Rev Razovizo prayed for the team and also the official jerseys while Vikhor Tepa unveiled it.
