Naga Club releases its Constitution

Dimapur, November 25: The Naga Club held an official programme to release its Constitution on November 24 at Hotel Japfü, Kohima where officials of Naga Club and Naga people from various walks of life attended the historic event.
During the function Kuolachalie Seyie, Finance Secretary, Naga Club & Convenor Drafting Committee in his opening remarks said that this moment is the greatest gift for Nagas from God and said that the Naga Club constituted a drafting committee and the draft constitution was approved during the Executive meeting of Naga Club on November 14, 2018.
He also stated that Naga Club as an elderly organization to be guided with certain rules and regulation, had the necessity to have its Constitution at this juncture and said that as and when necessary it can be amended and restructured and further said that whosever is not affiliated to the Naga Club can also be affiliated gradually as this institution is for all the Naga people as a whole.
Meanwhile, the Constitution of Naga Club was officially released by Caretaker, Naga Club (1965-69) Khyomo Lotha who in his brief sharing, said that during his time, the Naga Club had no written Constitution. However, those days Naga people were very friendly, honest and truthful among themselves and all the Naga tribes supported Naga Club.
He stated that Naga Club was well governed by the elderly people and was not organised in any secrecy and was openly accessible by all the concerned Naga people who managed the affairs. He further said that even his being made to be the caretaker was not through election nor appointment but just entrusted in good faith plainly as it could be. He acknowledged the efforts made by the Drafting Committee to enable Naga Club have its own Constitution now and also lauded the scope that it can be amended as and when necessary.
The dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Rev. Dr. Mazie Nakhro while the closing remarks was proposed by John Lohe, Member Secretary, Drafting Committee. Kuolachalie Seyie, Finance Secretary, Naga Club & Convenor Drafting Committee chaired the function. The day’s programme concluded with a high tea thereafter.
