Dimapur, December 6: The Naga American Foundation has announced the launch of its 2020-21 Aryo Shishak Memorial Scholarships.
The scholarships are open to all Naga/Naga-American students enrolled in higher education studies in the United States. Given the unprecedented events this year, the NAF will be awarding a total of four $500 scholarships during the 2020-21 scholarship period: 2 scholarships will be awarded to undergraduate students, and 2 to graduate students. The foundation hoped that the scholarship offerings will be of small assistance to the Naga student community in the United States.
Interested candidates must submit an essay on their experiences as Naga/Naga-American students studying in the US. Previous applicants have been encouraged to apply under the provision that they are not past scholarship recipients.
The deadline to apply is 11:59 pm (ET) on December 31, 2020. Winners will be announced by late January 2021. To learn more, one can visit nafconnect.net/scholarships.
The Dr AryoShishak Memorial Scholarships are named in honor of Dr AryoShishak, an early pioneer of the NAF, and a former president and board member of the organization. Dr Shishak passed away on September 24, 2017, and in October 2017, the NAF announced the renaming of its scholarships in memory of Dr Shishak’s decades-long service to the NAF and the Naga community in the US. To date, the NAF has awarded scholarships to 15 recipients, said Justin Aier, secretary, Naga American Foundation.
