
Dimapur, February 8: The Naga American Foundation has announced the the recipients of its 2020-21 Aryo Shishak Memorial Scholarships.
The undergraduate recipients are Joanna Angumei (BM in Music Education, Emhurst University, Illinois) and Sophia Mozhui (BS, Business Administration, Pepperdine University, California).
The graduate recipients are Mathingmi Hongchui (MA, Christian Education, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Texas) and Khak Khak Khayi (MS, Biotechnology, Northwestern University, Illinois).
This year’s pool of applicants was particularly competitive, and comprised undergraduate and graduate students pursuing an extensive range of academic degrees and professional goals in institutions across the United States.
The NAF congratulates this year’s recipients, as it also extended its appreciation to scholarship judges Dr. Paul Pimomo, Dr. Ren Merry, and Dr. Temsumongla Longkumer.
The Dr. Aryo Shishak Memorial Scholarships are named in honor of Dr. Aryo Shishak, an early pioneer of the NAF, and a former president and board member of the organization. Dr. Shishak passed away on September 24, 2017, and in October 2017, the NAF announced the renaming of its scholarships in memory of Dr. Shishak’s decades-long service to the NAF and the Naga community in the US.
