DEHRADUN, June 6: Afghanistan pulled off a thriller to register a series-clinching win in the second T20I against Bangladesh here at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday night.
Chasing a modest total on a low and sluggish wicket, veteran Mohammad Nabi paced the pursuit immaculately to take the ‘hosts’ past the 135-run target in the penultimate over. With 20 runs needed off the last two overs, Nabi smoked Rubel Hossain around the park and finished the match with seven balls to spare. Nabi finished with an unbeaten 31 off 15 balls after Samiullah Shenwari kept Afghanistan in the race with a 41-ball 49.
As has been the norm over the last year, no Afghanistan win is complete without a magical spell from Rashid Khan. Twice in two matches, Rashid broke the back of the Bangladesh middle order. (TNN)
Brief Scores: Bangladesh 134/8 (Tamim 43; Rashid 4/12) lost to Afghanistan 135/4 in 18.5 overs (Shenwari 49, Nabi 31*)
