Dimapur, July 26: Medziphema Village Council (MVC) and Medziphema Town Mechü Krotho (MTMK) have deliberated on the issue of extensive dust pollution caused by the ongoing four-lane National Highway construction under Medziphema jurisdiction.
They stated that despite repeated appeals and reminders made to the ECI & NHIDCL to arrest the problem of dust pollution and complete the black-topping work, no concrete remedial action has been taken to solve the persistent problem till today.
As a consequence of non-compliance to the grievances of the people as well as various organisations, the public of Medziphema Village and Medziphema Town have decided to engage themselves in watering the highway traversing Medziphema Town jurisdiction on July 29 from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.
The organizations informed the travellers that vehicular movements except those of emergency services, will face restrictions during the said period.
The two organizations also resolved to further intensify similar actions in the future if the concerned authority fails to respond and extend remedial measures to control the hazardous dust pollution which includes black-topping of the road under its jurisdiction without further delay.
