MTLT conducts mass sensitization programme on COVID-19

Mokokchung, June 25: In view of the present unprecedented situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the world, the Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem (MTLT) is undertaking a mass sensitization programme from Thursday (June 25) to educate the people about the COVID-19 virus.
The MTLT is conducting the programme as part of its social action activities so as to safeguard the town and its citizens from the virus. The MTLT activities is being actively supported by the district administration, the police, the medical department and the Minister in-charge of Mokokchung district, Metsubo Jamir, Minister for Rural Department.
As part of its first phase mass sensitization programme, the MTLT COVID-19 Coordination Committee made announcements in and around the town appealing the people to wear masks and maintain social distancing. The MTLT members also distributed free masks to the pedestrians who were not wearing masks. The youth leaders also visited all the shops and asked them to wear masks and keep hand-sanitizers or hand wash in their shops.
The public appreciated the initiative of the MTLT in their continued fight against the COVID-19 virus in the district. It may be noted here that this mass sensitization is being undertaken as part of the MTLT COVID-19 virus mitigation programme. The first part of the MTLT works was distribution of relief materials to the needy people in the district during the past three months of the nationwide lockdown.
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 Mass Sensitization programme will continue on Saturday, June 27 where another mass publicity campaign will be undertaken so as to create mass awareness and also fight against stigma and discrimination on COVID-19 in the society. (Page News Service)
