MRVC: Nagaland crosses 97% coverage

Dimapur, November 21: Nagaland Measles Rubella Vaccination Campaign has crossed 97% coverage as on November 20, with a total of 4,35,346 children already successfully vaccinated with MR vaccine through various school and outreach sessions.
The Department said it has been continuously vaccinating children at all health facilities and expressed hope to reach 100% coverage by the end of the extended campaign.
A review meeting was held with all DIOs of 11 districts on November 21 at the end of State level training on AEFI and Measles surveillance workshop organised at Hotel Vivor during which it was unanimously agreed to give due credit to the administration, Education, Social Welfare and all other departments for their continued support and involvement in the massive campaign. Also, due credit was given to all NGOs, partner organisations and especially the front-line health workers who has been tirelessly working in the field to make sure that all deserving children between 9 months and 15 years are vaccinated with MR vaccine.
The Department urged the few remaining resistant families/villages especially in Phek and Zunheboto where district MR coverage is still at 89% and 93% respectively, to proceed to the nearest health facility for vaccination at the earliest, lest their children miss the precious MR vaccine and be a potential threat to the whole community in the spread of Measles and Rubella disease.
It said the overwhelming immunization numbers and co-operation received from the communities till date speaks for itself that the vaccine is totally safe and the benefits of being vaccinated far outweigh the misleading doubts and rumours.
