MoS Rlys inspects Dimapur-Kohima Railway project

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 23: Union Minister of State for Railways, Coal and Mines Raosaheb Patil Danve on Tuesday inspected the Dimapur-Kohima Railway project and visited the newly built Shukovi Railway Station along with the railway officials and engineers.


Though he was supposed to interact with media persons in related to his visit and inspection it could not happen but in a series of tweets, the Minister informed that he conducted meetings with Railway officials at Dimapur as well as interacted with the employees at Shukovi. According to an official, he also inspected Tunnel-I and toured the Shukovi village during the visit.
He referred to the project as “a step taken in order to fulfill the dream of connecting the capitals of the North Eastern States by rail soon” by PM Modi in one of his tweets.
During his visit to Shukovi village, he was given a traditional welcome by the villagers. He also saw the traditional handicrafts products in the village.
In a tweet in Hindi, the MoS stated, “In Nagaland, the people of Sukhovi village near the new Railway Station built for Dimapur-Kohima railway line, gave me a traditional welcome. I also saw traditional handicraft products there. I appealed to take forward #VocalForLocal and #AtmanirbharBharat initiated by PM Shri @narendramodi. Also talked with the officials and workers. The workers told me that they were very happy to see railways coming to Sukhovi village. I also congratulated those who have taken COVID-19 vaccination and appealed to those who have not taken vaccines to immediately take the vaccines.”
In a series of tweets, the MoS stated that he inspected Sukhovi Railway station on the Dimapur-Kohima railway line and the works done there and added it is one of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative to connect the capitals of all Northeastern State with Railways at the earliest.


The MoS also stated that he also held meetings with the officials in regards to the Dimapur-Kohima railway line.
He further stated this 82.5 km long railway line would start from Dhansiri station near Dimapur to connect Zubza near Kohima.
The project, which would be completed in three phases, with Phase 1 already commissioned, will connect Dhansiri to Zubza and will have stations at Sukhovi, Molvom, Pherima, Piphema, and Menguzuma in between.
Phase I (15 kms) covers the distance between Dhansiri to Sukhovi, phase II (28 kms) covers the distance between Sukhovi to Pherima (estimated to get completed by July 2023), and phase III (38 kms) covers the distance between Pherima to Zubza (estimated to get completed by 2026).
