shawlDIMAPUR, OCTOBER 13: Union Minister of State for Electronics, IT, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Rajeev Chandrasekhar gifted a traditional Naga Shawl to Dr. Beker Shale, the head of an Ethiopian delegation that called on him at his office here.
According to a PIB release, the delegation, comprising heads of businesses, startups and other entrepreneurs, trade and industry representatives and officials of International Labour Organization, met Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Wednesday and discussed ways to scale up skilling efforts in Ethiopia on the lines of the modern skilling ecosystem created by PM Narendra Modi in India.
Dr. Shale, State Minister for Technology and Vocational Affairs, Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, was very pleased to receive the gift.
The Shawl, hand woven by tribal artisans of Nagaland is considered as a symbol of the State’s rich tradition and culture.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar had visited Nagaland thrice in the recent past. He had covered various places including Kiphire and Dimapur districts and interacted closely with citizens of the region. He even went by road to the remote Zunheboto district ~ the first Union Minister ever to visit the place in 40 years!
The Minister also reviewed the implementation of the schemes under Aspirational Districts programme and inaugurated five centres of the National Institute of Electronics and IT (NIELIT) in the North Eastern region including one in Dimapur during these visits.
He spoke of how “no part of Nagaland will be left without internet connectivity as part of PM Modi’s vision of connecting all Indians, with an approach that nobody is left behind”.
