Dimapur, January 19: Tuensang District observed Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization 2020 on Sunday with Deputy Commissioner Kumar Kamnikant (IAS) administering two drops of pulse polio to a child at Tower Clock Junction in presence of Dr Thungchanpani Patton, DPO (UIP & RCH), Dr Neisakho Kere, Dy. Director (NVBDCP), State Monitoring team from Kohima, Dr Imliyatet MO (UPHC) and CMO staffs.
Dr Thungchanpani Patton, DPO, UIP & RCH, reported that 235 polio booth centres were set up across the district to cover 12,013 targeted children in the age group of 0 to 5 years. The team members will continue the activity for two more days through house to house approach, to cover up the children who are left out in the in the Polio booth centres.
Assam Rfiles: The Assam Rifles actively participated in the pulse polio vaccination campaign across Nagaland on Sunday.
In Zunheboto, the Zunheboto Battalion organised pulse polio campaign at Battalion Headquarter. 30 children from surrounding villages of Zunheboto town were given polio drops.
The Shamatore Battalion undertook pulse polio immunization at Noklak and Shamatore village. 437 children below five years of age were administered polio drops.
The Mokokchung Battalion immunized 235 children at Tuli, Changki and Dessoi villages of Mokokchung district as well as in Longleng district, while the Phek Battalion immunized a total of 116 children.
The Kiphire Battalion organised pulse polio immunisation in Longthonger and Penkim village in collaboration with District Immunisation Office. A total of 114 children under 5 years received the OPV drops. The Ghaspani Battalion conducted polio vaccination drive at Jalukie, Peren, Pedi and Athibung villages and immunized 468 children.
The Tuensang Battalion immunized 326 children from Chenloiso, Wangti, Changlangshu and Tobu.
173 Bn CRPF: The 173 Bn CRPF organized pulse polio immunization programme at Bn Hqr at Airfield, Dimapur and Chumukedima village on January 19. The programme was attended by Syamchand De, DIGP (Ops) CRPF Kohima along with Vishnu Gautam, Commandant 173 Bn CRPF and the unit medical team. Around 120 children were given polio dose.
LCD: The Lions and Leo Club of Dimapur administered polio drops to children during the first phase of Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization at Plaza Point under the chairmanship of Leo Shreyansh. (Page News Service)
