More reports of I-Day celebrations in state

Dimapur, August 18: Executive Members of Indian Red Cross Society, Dimapur visited Prodigal’s Home, Dimapur on the occasion of the 73rd Independence Day on Thursday, as advised by Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Nagaland. Rice, Dal, Potato & cash was distributed for the welfare of the 30 odd inmates of the home.
Chairman Chandu Agarwal, Vice-Chairman Ajay Sethi, Honorary Secretary Kamla Kant Paul, Executive Member Ajit Sethi & Botoli Chiso, CCI Prodigal’s Home spoke on the occasion. All of them exhorted the inmates for better living, better learning, better worship for their own salvation with all possible assistance from the govt., civil societies & self-growth.
Members of Red Cross also appreciated the authorities of Prodigal’s Home for their services for the betterment of the inmates.
VWF: Vivekananda Welfare Foundation, along with the rest of the country, observed the 73rd Independence Day in the company of beneficiary children and volunteer-teachers of its educational unit “Pratibha” here at the North East Christian University on Thursday last.
Led by President Niranjan Saha, on the occasion, children, members of VWF, and volunteer-teachers took part in various activities like painting, speeches, and cultural and patriotic performances with the aim to promote the ideas of patriotism and unity in diversity.
Pratibha is an educational initiative of the foundation through which it imparts education to the underprivileged children free of cost.
DBSU: Dimapur Bengali student’s union (DBSU) celebrated 73rd Independence day with gaiety at its office building at millennium market in presence of its hundred members and well wishers.
The occasion was graced by Bishnu Bhattacharjee, renowned public leader and social worker of Dimapur and adviser of DBSU. Bhattacharjee in his address encouraged the gathering and paid tribute to freedom fighters of northeast & undivided India for their sacrifice in bringing freedom, he also advised the students fraternity to concentrate in the field of education and stand strong & united to contribute in nation building.
The program started with unfurling of national flag followed by short speech by General Secretary and office bearers of DBSU. At the end DBSU office bearers distributed Raksha (Rakhi) within its members to commemorate Raksha Bandhan festival with it’s motto of oneness & brotherhood.
LCD:Leo Club of Dimapur along with Lions Club of Dimapur and Lions Club of Blue Vanda celebrated 73th Independence Day by hoisting Flag at the club premises. The flag was hoisted by the President of Leo Club of Dimapur, Lions Club of Dimapur, Lions Club of Blue Vanda and District President Leo Rishab Chhabra. The club members visited Home of Hope and distributed food boxes with sweets. They also visited Subjail where they distributed food to the prisoners and to all the officers and the jailer under the chairmanship of Leo Vishal Jain and presidentship of Leo Vishal Pareek of Leo Club of Dimapur.
RCD: Along with the nation, Rotary Club of Dimapur celebrated 73rd Independence Day by hoisting the National Flag at club premises Rotary Centre jointly with InnerWheel and Rotaract Club and later the Rotary Club of Dimapur served Safe Drinking water to all the public at DDSC Stadium, Dimapur upon the directives of the administration.
