More orgs support demand for COVID-19 cess rollback

Dimapur, September 21: The Naga Women Hoho Dimapur (NWHD), Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF), GB’s (Sadar) Union under the banner of Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) have extended strong support to the ultimatum served by Dimapur Naga Students Union (DNSU) to the State Government to revoke COVID -19 cess on petrol and diesel.
In a release, the apex civil societies of Dimapur demanded immediate abrogation of the matter in the State, “since the COVID-19 cess on petrol and diesel by the state government has unjustifiably increased the prices of every items across the state, effecting everyone especially the common people in general.”
The release lamented that despite appeals and demands from various civil society and students bodies on the issue to revoke the COVID-19, cess on petrol and diesel, the State Government has remained adamant and still persist, which, it said, is nothing short of an attempt by the Government to add salt to injury, when the entire general public is reeling under the crisis.
The civil societies under the banner of NCD urged the Government to immediately abrogate the cess else CSOs shall no longer tolerate and remain a mute spectator.
WSH: The Western Sümi Hoho (WSH) has supported the demand made by various organizations on withdrawal of COVID cess on fuel imposed by the present State Government.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the normal lives of everyone and brought countless suffering on every front. The government instead of trying to lessen the burden of the people has brought them more hardship. They have now no option left but to come out and agitate,” said WSH in a release.
The WSH said it will give full support on the demand for withdrawal of the cess. (Page News Service)
