Dimapur, January 25: Opposition leader TR Zeliang has expressed grief at the demise of former Rajya Sabha MP, Melhüpra Vero on Friday at Dimapur after a brief illness.
“His demise is a great loss to the Naga people in particular,” he said.
Zeliang extended deepest condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
NTC: The Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) has expressed shock and anguish at the demise of M. Vero, the first RajyaSabha MP from Nagaland and ex-Minister who breathed his last at Dimapur on January 24.
An experience leader, social worker and a reformer, his passing away at a time when peoples needed him most as a consultant towards building a better society has created void which would be difficult to fill, it said.
The NTC expressed utmost sympathy, shared the sadness and conveyed deepest condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for his departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
TPO: The Tenyimi Peoples’ Organisation (TPO) has deeply mourned the demise of Padmshree Melhupra Vero, a veteran Naga lawmaker and the first president of Naga Hoho, saying in his passing away, Naga people have lost a father figure whose absence shall be profoundly felt for a long time to come.
“He was a true Naga leader whose straightforwardness and frank disposition always touches the mass,” it said.
The TPO paid homage to the departed leader and conveyed condolences to the kith and kins.
CPO: The Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) has expressed deep anguish at the demise of M. Vero, former President CPO, former MP, former legislator and former Minister and former president of Naga Hoho.
“In his death the CPO and the Chakhesangs have lost a true leader and a fatherly figure and the Nagas a true statesman,” it said.
The CPO saluted him for being the person he was, and prayed for his soul to rest in peace.
Thenucho: Former NLA Speaker, Thenucho Tunyi has expressed grief at the passing away of M. Vero, saying in his death Nagas have lost a great statesman, a guardian of Nagas and Chakhesang community in particular.
Thenucho expressed condolences and prayed that Almighty God grant him grace and mercy for eternal life.
MUA: The Maring Uparap Assembly (MUA) on behalf of the Maring community has shared condolence at the demise of M Vero, first Naga Hoho president, and prayed for his soul to rest in peace.
