More condemns police assault on doctor

Dimapur, August 25: The Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA) has expressed deep concern over the increasing incidents of violence and police assault on health care professionals, especially during this time of pandemic.
“We understand the stress during such a time can vary from mild to severe. Both health care workers and police personnel’s suffer intense stress and anxiety by their critical roles in the battle against Covid-19 undergoing risk and danger of their life,” it said.
The NMA appealed to the higher police authorities to help counsel and sensitize police personnel’s who are on the streets enforcing the lockdown to exercise utmost restraint. Apart from their law and order duty, police are also equally risking their lives managing containment zones, conducting checks, it said.
The NMA appreciated the State Government in setting up an inquiry committee on the incident and deliver justice as per the law of the land.
NCD: The Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has strongly condemned the brutal assault on a doctor of COVID-19 lab at Chumoukedima by IRB personnel on the night of August 21, and has requested the concerned authority to award exemplary action against the attackers.
Expressing solidarity with NIDA and to the victim Dr Atoka Wotsa, the NCD appealed NIDA to perform their duty as usual till the 3-member independent committee delivered the issue for the interest of public in general and ensure that expeditious justice is meted out to them as per the law.
