Mon schools pledge to save girl child

Dimapur, March 12: As a part of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) campaign, schools in Mon district on March 11 pledged to save girl child and to educate girls. Stickers were also distributed to the students.
It may be mentioned that the 2nd Monday of every month will be celebrated as girl child day in Mon district.
Meanwhile inter-school speech competition on the topic ‘Importance of girl child in the society’ was held on March 11 in the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall, Mon.
Imliwapang Aier, EAC and Nodal Officer BBBP Mon said that the Mon District administration had set second Monday of every month as girl child day in the district.
Shongmet M Konyak of Sacred Heart School, Mon was the winner of the competition where Yingkhao of St. John Higher Secondary School, Mon and Ngunlen C Konyak of Police Unit School, Mon got second and third prize respectively.
DC Mon, Thavaseelan K, IAS handed over the prize to the winner. Assistant Commissioner Mon, Dharam Raj, IAS and Vitokha Yepthomi, EAC Mon Hq were the judges of the competition.
The competition was organized by District Administration, Mon under the aegis of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP)
