Moatsu celebration culminates at Mokokchung

Dimapur, May 3: The 3rd and final day of the Moatsu Festival Celebration Programme was held today at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung. Dy. Chief Minister, Government of Nagaland, Y. Patton was the Special Guest, and Minister Higher Education & Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along Longkumer was the Guest of Honour.
Bringing Moatsu greetings to the Ao Community, Patton urged the people to strengthen the bond of friendship through the celebration of the Moatsu Festival. Appreciating the Ao Senden for inviting all the Tribal Hohos to celebrate Moatsu this year, Patton called it a red-letter day for the Nagas.
Touching on the present scenario of the State, Patton said the Government alone cannot bring changes in the society, it needs cooperation, positive thinking, and action of the people to bring about progressive transformation in our Naga society.
He maintained that positive change will come as has been mentioned in the Government programmes but not in the style of an impatient Naga. He said changes have to be brought strategically and in a calculative manner and through proper management of time but not hastily.
He appealed to the people to extend cooperation to the present government to bring about meaningful and optimistic change.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Temjen Imna Along reminded the Aos to take more responsibilities and to be at the forefront and foster friendship among the Nagas and a unity that cannot be broken by tribalism.
The programme was attended by Minister Tongpang Ozukum, Minister Kashiho Sangtam, Advisor Kazheto Kinimi, Advisor Tovihoto Ayemi, and a host of dignitaries.
Moatsu greeting was said by Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, Shashank Pratap Singh, IAS, President, Angami Public Organization, President, Konyak Union, and Chairman, Lotha Hoho. President, Ao Senden delivered the welcome speech, the significance of Moatsu was said by Repatemsu Jamir, Tatar, and Chuchuyimpang Village Council while Pastor MTBA said the invocation. As part of the celebration, a traditional Dance competition between the Ranges under Mokokchung District was held while the General Secretary, AKM, Nekmi Jamir chaired the programme.
The second session of the programme consisting of the Indigenous Games Competition was graced by the Chief Information Commissioner, Nagaland, I. Meyionen Jamir.
