Dimapur, September 22: The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has expressed shock at the gross misuse of scholarship funds by officials in the Directorate of Technical Education as mentioned in the report of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) for the year ending March 31, 2017.
In a letter to the Director, Directorate of Technical Education, the ANCSU stated that the misappropriation and diversion of scholarship funds amounting to crores is a direct insult to the students community and the ANCSU openly challenges and questions the directorate of technical education as on what grounds it has the right to organize merry-making farewell functions, shamelessly purchasing its departmental needs, cowardly paying employees salary and self-proclaiming to be generous sponsors with the students scholarship meant only for payment of scholarship to the deserving students.
The Union said it would leave no stone unturned to deliver justice to the students’ community and at the same time book the concerned erring officials as per the law.
“While ANCSU has been repeatedly apprising the state government and the department concerned for proper implementation of scholarship schemes since past many years, the union is bewildered whether the directorate of technical education is for or against the interest of the students’ community?”, the letter stated.
The ANCSU demanded that those officials involved in the misappropriation and diversion of scholarship funds must be immediately terminated as they pose serious threat to the students’ community.
The ANCSU also demanded the Directorate of Technical Education to submit detailed report in black and white to the union within five days on the misappropriation and diversion of scholarship funds. (Page News Service)
