Mishilimi Christian Centenary celebrated

Dimapur, December 22: To commemorate 100 years of Christianity in Mishilimi village, all churches under Mishilimi came together and celebrated Mishilimi Christian Centenary (1921-2021) on the theme ‘Proclaim the liberation’, at Old Mishilimi village ground on December 21.
A press release informed that thousands of villagers, as well as in-laws and delegates from all inter-denominational neighbouring villages, attended the celebration.
The main speakers were Rev. Hotokhu P Zhimomi, ES of SABAK; Rev. Vitoka Kinimi, ES of NCRC Sumi HQ Pughoboto; and Rev. Henito Sheqi, Pastor at Chisholimi Baptist Church.
Y Vikheho Swu, MLA from Pughoboto, in his message, said that with the celebration of 100 years of Christianity, everyone must move ahead with creative ideas and guide each other towards accomplishing one’s dream.
The jubilee souvenir was released by Rev. Akhato Sheqi Swu, Pastor at Prayer and Healing Centre, Ayinato.
Representing 100 years of its existence, jubilee choir numbering 100 members presented a special song in all the services.
Earlier, the jubilee monolith was unveiled by Rev. Hotokhu P Zhimomi with the blowing of jubilee trumpet.
There was a traditional stone-pulling ceremony was on April 27, 2019 and the stone was erected at the compound of Baptist Church, the first church established in 1921.
Christianity came to the village when Late Pilitha went to Kohima for labour works and came to know Jesus Christ through Khulhou Angami (Khonoma) and was baptised by Evangelist Viliezu Rengma (Tseminyu Village) on 21 December, 1921, it stated.
Late Shikhuli Sheqi from the village was the first women evangelist among the Sumi community, it added.
