Kohima, OctOBER 29: Middle PWD Colony Council Kohima today celebrated its silver jubilee – 25 years of establishment on the theme “Remembering the pioneers”.
Addressing the celebrants, Chief Executive Officer of Kohima Smart City Development Limited, K. Theunuo said the celebration is one of the greatest events that the colony has ever organized in the past.
Acknowledging the vision of the pioneers for the welfare of the denizens of the colony, he said it is because of the vision of the pioneers that the colony is celebrating silver jubilee lest the people of the colony would not have known about each other’s existence.
Middle PWD is a small Nagaland as it has people from all the parts of the state and also from other parts of the country, he said.
25 years ago, the pioneers had a farsighted vision for the colony denizens, he said adding that the theme has been aptly chosen for the right occasion.
Being a resident of the colony, he claimed that Middle PWD is the safest and most friendly colony which is centrally located and can be considered as the best colony in Kohima town because of the leaders and disciplined youth of the colony.
He also unveiled the jubilee monolith and souvenir on the occasion.
Chairman of Middle PWD Colony Tosozhol Natso shared the history of formation of Middle PWD Colony in 1997.
The occasion was marked by honoring the pioneers and GB of the colony and also the eldest male Kiremwati Aier and eldest female R Moangla Longchar of the colony.
Led by vice chairman Tewetsolo Khamo the programme commenced with dedicatory prayer by Rev Phomlee Van while short speech was also delivered by PWD Panchayat, Ward No. 11. Convener of jubilee planning committee James Khala delivered the welcome address while Co-convener Kewepe Kapfo tendered the vote of thanks. The Middle PWD Jubilee choir and Vilekhonuo Sanchü enthralled the gathering with special numbers
