Menuosetuo is 48th ASA wrestling champion


Winners of 48th ASA Wrestling Meet along with advisors, MLAs and dignitaries on February 12, 2020 at Local Ground Kohima.

Kohima, February 12: Wrestlers from Northern Angami Sports Association swept the top three titles of 48th Angami Sports Association (ASA) with defending champion of Open Nagaland Wrestling championship, Menuosetuo Yiese emerging as the new champion.
In an exciting final bout played amidst jam packed spectators at Kohima Local Ground here, the 21 year old Yiese, s/o Late Khrielatuo Yiese of Kohima village, standing at 6 feet and weighing 134 Kgs, representing Northern Angami Sports Association defeated defending champion Kezhaseluo-o Pienyü, s/o Late Thepfusanyü Pienyü, Kohima Village.
Seyiekhrietuo Yiese, the elder brother of Menuosetuo bagged the third position while Kekhriezo Nagi of Western Angami Youth Organization was placed fourth.
As the top four winners, they received cash award of Rs 1.5 lakh, Rs 1 lakh, Rs 80,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively.
The losing quarter finalist and pre-quarter finalist also got Rs 5,000 each.
Advisor for Urban Development, Dr Neikiesalie Nicky Kire graced the inaugural session of the two day wrestling meet as special guest, which was also witnessed by Advisor for Youth Resources & Sports Zale Neikha and NPF MLAs Khriehu Liezietsu and Keneizhakho Nakhro.
Meanwhile, the first Under-16 championship of ASA wrestling meet will be held on Thursday from 9:30 am.
Retired Chief Engineer of PHE, Kevisekho Kruse will grace the valedictory function as guest of honour. (Page News Service)
