Dimapur, December 19: Nagaland beat Manipur by an inning and 68 runs to record its first win of the Men’s Senior Ranji Trophy 2019-20 at the Videocon Ground, Kolkata. Nagaland had earlier lost to Meghalaya by 110 runs at Sovima.
Needing 200 runs on the penultimate day to make Nagaland bat again, Manipur could add only 132 runs to their overnight score of 84/3 to be bowled out for 216. For Manipur, Narsingh showed some resistance by scoring 85, but none of his team mates managed to stay in the crease long enough to build a partnership. Rex was the next highest scorer with 42.
For Nagaland, Stuart Binny took 3 wickets, while Jonathan and Tahmeed took 2 wickets each.
Earlier, Manipur were bowled out for 115 in the first inning, while Nagaland made 400 in its first inning riding on SS Mundhe’s 148 runs. Jonathan made 79 and Imliwati scored 52 in the first inning.
The State senior team will now head to Bhubneshwar for its next match against Sikkim from December 25 to 28.
