DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 7: District Water and Sanitation Mission members held a meeting at DC conference hall on February 5, under the chairmanship of DC Tuensang, Kumar Ramnikant.
The meeting discussed the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission. The objective of JJM is to enable all the rural households to have access to safe and adequate drinking water within the premises to the extent possible. For the verification of the implementation, a third party is empanelled and for Tuensang district, Tolen Thangjam has been nominated for the purpose.
JJM envisions to provide safe and adequate drinking water through individual household tap connection by 2024 to all the household in rural India.
Executive Engineer (PHED), Kedolhuto highlighted that for 2020-21, the project proposal is for 50 inhabitants in the district out of which 10 inhabitant villages will be implemented under RD department and the rest will be under PHED.
The importance of inclusion of Health department in the committee to check the quality of drinking water was also discussed. He also highlighted that under JJM, there will be three kinds of schemes which are new construction of water line, extra line to already existing water connection and the third is retrofitting.
