Dimapur, January 22: State coordinator of PMU, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, Dr Pankaj Gupta visited Mon District on January 20&21 and conducted a meeting on January 21 in the DC’s conference hall Mon with District administration and master volunteers of Nasha Mukt Bharat campaign.
Ilika Zhimomi, SDO (Civil) Mon briefed on the calendar of events scheduled under Nasha Mukt Bharat. The proposed activities aim at creating awareness among the general public about the ill effects of substance abuse. She gave a power point presentation on the activities and initiatives undertaken in the District.
Dr Pankaj highlighted the important role of master volunteers in tackling substance abuse in the country. He encouraged the master volunteers to provide continuous feedback and undertake initiatives best suited to the prevailing social conditions.
Wango Konyak, Assistant Director, Directorate of Social Welfare assured the District administration of the support and assistance of the Department in its fight against substance abuse. He commended the District on the activities undertaken so far and encouraged the Church and civil societies to undertake activities focused on steering the people away from substance abuse.
