Dimapur, July 16: A joint-coordination meeting was held Friday with different departments and stakeholders regarding Dzukoü valley and its related activities at SDO(C), Jakhama office. The meeting was held to discuss the management of Dzukoü and provide regulatory guidelines so that tourists/trekkers do not get lost.
In the meeting three agendas were adopted where, tourists will be able to access Southern Dzukoü through Jakhama and Viswema route only, blanket ban on hunting activities and a decision to set up Dzukoü Management Committee, which will bring out a blueprint with further consultations with all the stakeholders.
The meeting also discussed fresh trail mapping of routes along with stakeholders, identification of spots with phone signal and the mandatory use of guides by tourists from outside the State etc. Concerns relating to the maintenance and improvement of infrastructures and services available were also taken up with the Department of Tourism.
The meeting was convened by the SDO (C), Jakhama and attended by DDMO Kohima, officials from Department of Tourism, Department of Forest, EAC Kezocha, SAPO, SAYO and other stakeholders. (Page News Service)
