‘Media interpretation is bizarre’

Dear Madam,
Interpreting the victory of Kamala Harris in the US Vice-presidential race as “triumph of an Indian” , as being done by a section of national media , is bizarre to say the least.
Neither is Harris an Indian citizen nor are both of her parents ethnic Indians! She is as much “Jamaican” as she is “Indian”(from her maternal side).
Moreover she vocally identifies herself as African-American with the US media to the electorate perceiving her as representative of Black only; if ethnicity is taken in consideration at all.
Still if Kamala Harris gets projected as an “Indian” by national media; then indirectly it provides moral boost to the Who’s Who of BJP when they religiously refer to Sonia Gandhi as “Italian” despite her full-fledged Indian citizenship! Reality on the ground should not yield place to silly emotions.
