Manipur University row: Conrad Sangma appeals for peace


New Delhi, July 21: Amid an on-going stir in Manipur demanding the removal of Manipur University Vice Chancellor, National People’s Party (NPP) chief and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Saturday appealed to the agitating people and students to maintain peace and said through ‘’dialogue’’ the issue can be resolved.
“We would like to appeal to all the people specially those who are agitating to maintain peace.
With violence we cannot find a solution,” Sangma, whose party is a part of the Manipur government led by the BJP, told reporters here.
Sangma said, “I know lots of difficulties have been faced and there are lot of complains by the people but I am sure that through dialogue and discussions we can resolve this issue.”
A report from Manipur said internet, SMS services remained suspended for the second day on Saturday in the state. (Agencies)
