Manipur cop aspirants call 48-hour bandh

IMPHAL, JUNE 3: Aspirants to the post of Constables in the Manipur Police Department have given an ultimatum to the state Government to declare the results of their recruitment exam by Sunday, failing which they will go on a 48-hour bandh from midnight.
The examination for recruiting 2000 police constables was conducted back in 2013.
Protesting against the delay in publication of results, the candidates, under the banner of “All Manipur DPC Completed Recruitment Candidates of Police Constable, Male 2016”, staged a sit-in demonstration in Imphal on Friday.
Though a recent order passed by the Manipur High Court ruled that the results should be declared by June 5, the state Government has not given any assurance, a leader of the body said.
He also added that all emergency and religious services will go on unaffected and be exempted from the purview of the proposed bandh. (TNN)
