DIMAPUR, MAY 9: The Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU) has demanded the State Government to make Wakching New Model College, Mon, functional by this academic session (2022) failing which it would be forced “to serve the Ultimatum for which the Department and concerned authorities will be held responsible”.
In a memorandum to Nagaland Chief Secretary, ENCSU president Mankap Konyak and general secretary Sanglekhamba C Chang noted that with the non-functioning of the college since its inauguration on February 3,, 2019, the Wakching people are taking care of the infrastructure despite it being the duty of the Government.
The Union reminded that it had earlier submitted representations to the concerned Department and authorities thrice appealing for deployment/appointment of faculties and to make the college functional, “yet the response from the Department is same since from the beginning i.e. the file is under P&AR”.
“So, now the question lies, for how long is it going to be in P&AR Department”, it asked.
Stating that the Union and the people have been patient enough with the delay tactics of the authorities, the ENCSU warned that it will not stay silent to “this ill treatment served towards the people.”
