Dimapur, February 7: While appreciating the appointment of former Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court, Uma Natha Singh as the first Lokayukta in Nagaland, the ACAUT Nagaladn today appealed to the people of Nagaland to be ever vigilant and use their rights judiciously in making use of this anti-corruption authority diligently.
The ACAUT hoped that with Lokayukta in place, transparency and accountability in public services would be predominant, making administrative machinery citizen-friendly.
Stating that Nagas are hopeful there would be drastic drop in cases of corruption, the ACAUT appealed to the government of the day to give enough teeth and necessary support to the Lokayukta so that it carry out its duties and function in letter and spirit.
In a press release issued by its media cell, the ACAUT said it has been persistently fighting against the cancerous growth of corruption that has spread its tentacles to all system of governance in the state.
It said Lokayukta would now be the chemotherapy for detection, control and cure of corruption in the state of Nagaland.
“With Lokayukta, all public servants viz bureaucrats, technocrats and politicians will be under the scanner for any genuine allegations or grievances. Now, any concerned public can file a formal complaint and bring it to the notice of the Lokayukta against corruption and mal- administration which shall be investigated without fear or favour so that citizens get speedy and timely redressal,” it added.
