Dimapur, June 25: In view of the recent fire tender vehicle accident and increasing vehicular traffic at Lower Chandmari colony, the Municipal Affairs Department in collaboration with the Lower Chandmari Panchayat and Lower Chandmari Youth Organization has taken the initiative to widen the road turning at the tri-junction.
The road widening exercise is being undertaken to increase visibility for vehicles while making turns and reduce the sharp turn which may cause serious accidents.
The welfare activity initiated by Head of Department, Municipal Affairs, Toshimanen Ozukum and assisted by the colony expects to ease traffic congestions at the tri-junction which is a crowded location for school children and office goers. The widening of road is also expected to make it easier for school and office buses to make turns.
The junction which serves as the taxi stand for the citizens, connecting the road from Chandmari to Midlane, and the national highway at War Cemetery, is one of the busiest roads with commuters from different colonies using the road for attending work, schools and churches.
