Lt. Phyolumo Lotha’s 50th death anniversary observed at Wokha

Wokha, December 6: Lt. Phyolumo Lotha’s 50th death anniversary observed at Phyolumo Lotha Memorial hall Wokha.
Lt. Phyolumo Lotha Head Dobashi (Hd. DB) of Shaki village was one visionary person known by his works during his life time. He was shot on December 3, 1970, and succumbed to the gunshot injury at Civil Hospital, Wokha on December 4, 1970. Lt. Phyolumo Lotha was an ambassador for the society where he advocated to obtain modern education amongst the Lothas.
During the event Orenthung Lotha, NCS Deputy Commissioner, Wokha launched a booked on the life biography of Lt. Phyolumo Lotha titled “A memoir of the life and legacy of Phyolumo Lotha (Hd. DB)” published by the grandchildren of Phyolumo and Nchano.
For his distinguished and commendable work during his life time he received awards and recognitions with one ‘King George VI Medal’ (1939-1945), two ‘The Burma Star Medal’, the President’s Medal, Sate Meritorious Award (Posthumous) 1996, a commemorative medal on account of being in government service when Nagaland attained statehood he received Nagaland Statehood Medal 1963.
The programme was gracefully attended by family, friends, in-laws, grandchildren and village members of Phiro and Sankiton and native village of Lt. Phyolumo Lotha.
