Lt. Gen. Chauhan takes charge as new CFMG chairman

Kohima, August 29: Former Director General of Assam Rifles, Lt. Gen. (retd) Shokin Chauhan has taken over as the new Chairman of Cease Fire Monitoring Group (CFMG), Nagaland.
The retired general officer was appointed as the new chairman of CFMG on August 16 last following the completion of tenure of D K Pathak on August 9 last, stated Staff Officer of CFMG T Mere.
Lt Gen Chouhan’s tenure will be for one year, as per the formal orders issued by the Central government.
He will be responsible for monitoring the ceasefire ground rules at a time when expectations are high among the Naga underground groups, civil societies and the State government for achieving a solution to decades old Indo-Naga political talks specially after the signing of Framework Agreement in 2015 between the NSCN(IM) and Centre.
Six other Naga nationalist political groups have also entered into parleys with the Centre since September last year. (Page News Service)
