Dimapur, May 15: The 1st phase training of polling personnel for Dimapur District requisitioned for the conduct of forthcoming by-election to the 1-Nagaland Parliamentary Constituency to be held on May 28 was conducted Tuesday at Dimapur Government College, Dimapur.
Addressing the gathering, DC & DEO Dimapur, Sushil Kumar Patel IAS stated that postal ballot for the polling personnel have been discarded, instead Election Duty Certificate (EDC) will be issued to all employees requisitioned for polling duty. He informed all requisitioned polling personnel to apply for EDC if he/she wishes to vote in person. He said those who are registered as a voter in any one of the 5 assembly constituencies under Dimapur District to apply Form 12A which will be issued during the training period.
He said that the form should be attached with a copy of election duty appointment order, service identity card or epic and submit the same on May 21. The details of polling station where he or she will be posted on the day of poll need not be filled as it would be known only after the third round of randomization.
Wokha: First round of training for the polling personnel drafted for election duty began today at GHSS, Wokha.
The training for Presiding Officers and Polling-I started today and Polling-II, Polling-III, Polling-IV (VVPAT) and Grade-IV will be conducted on May 16. All polling personnel have been informed to attend the training without fail. Disciplinary action shall be initiated against absentees as per the relevant section of law.
Briefing the polling personnel the Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon, IAS appealed to them to perform their assigned responsibilities with utmost dedication and sincerity and give no room for error.
He informed that the medical examination for exception of polling personnel will be conducted only on May 17 at Dr. Motsuo Memorial District Hospital, Wokha from 10 am onwards.
All polling personnel who have applied for exemption on medical ground have been informed to report without fail.
Kohima: In view of the by-election to Nagaland Parliamentary Constituency DC Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS has directed all licensed arms holders in Kohima district to deposit their arms and ammunition to the nearest police stations on or before May 23. The arms along with ammunitions so deposited shall be kept in police custody till one week after the declaration of result.
The officer in-charge of respective police station shall issue receipt to each depositor and also maintain proper records and safe custody of the arms. Non-compliance with this order shall lead to cancellation of arms license and other penal action as per relevant section of law.
Hire charges: DC & DEO Kohima has informed all private vehicle owners/drivers of Kohima district, whose vehicles were requisitioned and detailed for election duty during the State Assembly Election 2018, to collect the vehicle hire charges on May 17&18 from 10 am from the ground floor, office of the Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Kohima.
EDC: All Government officials requisitioned and assigned for election duty have been asked to collect Form 12A for applying Election Duty Certificate (EDC) from the FDC Cell, Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima on or before May 17. The duly filled Form 12A with a copy of the election duty detailment order, copy of service identity card (original should also be brought along while submission) and a copy of EPIC should be submitted on or before May 20.
Peren: DC Peren, Smita Sarangi, IAS has thanked the Sector Magistrates for efficiency and successful conduct of the last election in spite of the bad road conditions.
During the meeting, DC and Sector Magistrates thoroughly discussed and identified the area where vehicles will be used for the ensuing parliamentary constituency election. Training for presiding officers and polling officers are to be monitored attentively so as to avoid failure of VVPAT operation in the process of voting.
Mon: DC & DEO Mon, Thavaseelan K, IAS has informed all polling duty personnel ‘registered as voters in Mon district’ requisitioned for election duty as Sector Officers, polling team members, expenditure monitoring team members, drivers, Dobashis & member of all election committees & cells etc. that Form 12A (Application for Election Duty Certificate) will be issued from May 15. Last date of issue of form 12A will be May 21.
Form12A will have to be submitted between May 15 to 21 by all applicants. Applicants are to affix the following documents with form 12A: Photocopy of duty list/requisition order (for drivers) and Government ID card. Form 12B (Election Duty Certificate) will be issued between May 24 to 27. At 2 pm on May 27 issuance of EDC will be closed. Venue for submission & issuance of EDC-EDC Cell, 1st floor DC Office, Mon.
Phek: Hectic preparation is going on at Phek for the forthcoming by-election which will be held on May 28. The first phase training for the presiding officers and first polling officers were held on May 15 at Government Higher Secondary School, Phek.
All together there are about 560 officials divided into ten groups and are being trained by the master trainers.
Peren: DC & DEO, Peren, Smita Sarangi, IAS has informed all polling personnel that the first round of training in connection with the ensuing by-election to the Nagaland parliamentary constituency 2018 will be held on May 17&18 at GHSS, Peren at 9.30 am. All have been requested to attend the training.
Tuensang: In view of the forthcoming by-election to Lok Sabha, training for polling personnel was held on May 15 at GHSS Auditorium Tuensang. L. Jamithung Lotha, DC Tuensang exhorted the polling personnel to be more sincere and careful in performing their duties. The training will continue till May 17.
