Loyem Memorial underway


Dimapur, October 10: The opening match of the 26th Loyem Memorial Trophy was played between Sangzi FC and Pisgah United FC. The first goal of the tournament came through the boots of Johnny in the ninth minute of the first half. The defending champion Sangzi FC cruised pass comfortably by winning with a margin of 4-1, Johnny went on to add another goal in the 53rd minute, the remaining goals were scored by Benjamin and Likokmong. The consolation goal for Pisgah United was scored by Menya.
Earlier in the opening ceremony special guest, Alemtemshi IAS Rtd, CEO, Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland began his speech by reminiscing his schooling days, 48 years ago in GHSS Tuensang.
Comparing the improvement in the Loyem Memorial Ground, he congratulated the CCSU and the Organizing Committee for its achievement.
“The CCSU and the Organizing Committee with no help from the government generating funds more than 23 lakhs is an achievement,” he added.
He assured to help in getting finance to make the ground as a standard stadium.
Earlier, the program was chaired by Nayang, later invocation was spoken by Rev. Achu Chang Executive Secretary CBLT.
In the welcome address P. Ngamen Convenor of the Loyem Memorial trophy thanked different sections of the society for rendering help in making this trophy a successful one.
