Dimapur, August 20: The Longleng District Planning & Development Board meeting was held under the chairmanship of chairman DPDB & Minister Health & Family Welfare, S. Pangnyu Phom on August 18 in the DC’s conference hall.
Addressing the DPDB Pangnyu Phom lauded the DPDB members under the leadership of the Deputy Commissioner & vice chairman DPDB for initiating development activities in the right perspectives and redressing various issues of the district. Asserting that illegal immigration from Assam are likely to enter Longleng after the success of NRC in Assam, Pangnyu appealed to the district administration, police, NGOs, Church and civil society to keep vigil and conduct ILP verification drive jointly to flush out all illegal immigration from the district. He also urged the locals not to localize and harbour illegal immigration or approach the district administration to seek ILP on their behalf. He asked the competent authority to check ILP defaulters, validity and proper documentation for issue of ILP.
In connection with landownership of Longleng, Pangnyu informed that landowners have been compensated for donating their land for the district headquarter and appealed to the landowners not to create hindrance to any developmental activities. He apprised the district administration to cancel all land permits issued to the private individual under Government land. He also exhorted the local officers and staffs to be proactive in their approach and assist the officials coming from other district to provide service to the people of Phom community.
Deputy Commissioner, John Tsulise Sangtam appealed to the Heads of Offices to verify departmental proposal properly before submitting to the DPDB to ensure that all norms and criteria of the Government are fulfilled. He also urged the NGOs and the civil society to assist the district administration and the police force to stop influx of illegal immigration and maintain peaceful law and order in the district.
After reviewing the last meeting minutes and briefing on the LADP aspects by the chairman, the board unanimously approved the proposed schemes and projects submitted by the elected members under LADP 2018-19 amounting to Rs 83.75 lakhs each for 49 A/C Tamlu and 50 A/C Longleng and Rs 30 Lakhs under the common poll.
