Dimapur, August 6: Mahila Shakti Kendra along with DTF BBBP celebrated Girl Child Week on the theme “Empowering girls for a brighter tomorrow” at Christian High School, Longleng on August 5.
Rohbi Sangtam, EAC Hq. Longleng stated that girls should stand for their rights and pursue whatever field they are interested in. Being born in a stereotype family, one may face more struggles and hurdles but in order to be successful, one should come out from these stereotype traits, set a goal and stay focused until it is achieved, he said.
Shiju Anthony, Headmaster, Christian High School appreciated the DTF, BBBP & MSK Longleng for organizing the programme for girl students in the school. He asked the girl students to take such programme as an opportunity for their welfare.
Tutinungla Phom, District coordinator, gave a brief introduction on Girl Child Week celebration, while WWO MSK Longleng spoke on the importance of girl child rights. Importance on girl child issues & needs was also discussed. Information on Sakhi-One Stop Centre Longleng was highlighted by Counselor Nyangyungsangla Phom.
After the programme, a special session was conducted where the girl students were given opportunities to explore their talent. Gift hamper were given to all the girls students who attended the programme. (Page News Service)
