Dimapur, May 15: Minister for Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom has appealed to the citizens of Nagaland to co-operate with the Government’s move to impose a state-wide lockdown.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Minister said that he “truly understands” the inconvenience citizens will undergo during the course of lockdown.
“However, it is pertinent to mention that the decision was taken after considering the health safety of our people. Now, it is the responsibility of all the concerned citizens to help the Government, the Department of Health & Family Welfare and frontline workers to cooperate in this battle against the pandemic,” he said.
Pangnyu reminded that the pandemic is not over yet. “We must all understand that the COVID-I9 will remain the new normal. All the citizens must act responsibly as we continue to battle the pandemic. We must observe COVID-appropriate behaviors and take COVID-19 vaccination to protect oneself as well as our loved ones, family, co-workers and community.
“I urge the people who are showing influenza-like illnesses to come forward for testing and also to cooperate with our surveillance teams in contact tracing. Our frontline workers are sacrificing everything and putting their own lives and their families at risk for the sake of saving lives of others and they need our utmost cooperation and support,” he stated.
The Minister further appealed to the citizens to “continue to pray and seek God’s divine intervention and heal our land sooner than later”. (Page News Service)
