Kohima, Jun 14: Symphony Academy of Music Kohima and Musicians Guild have come together to initiate the 4th World Music Day Celebration Kohima at The Heritage, Old DC Bungalow here on June 21 from 4:30 PM onwards.
Briefing media persons at Symphony Café here today, Director of Symphony Academy, Melekhoto Pucho along with other partners said eight bands and four soloist artists would be entertaining the music lovers on the day.
The popular local bands taking the stage on the day are Lords of Rock, UDX, Purple Fusion, Divine Connection while upcoming bands Papersky, Annie’s OK and The Paradigm Shift would also playing their numbers.
Ambush from Assam, who have been the second runners-up of International Hornbill Rock Contest 2018 will be the guest artist for the day.
The solo artists include Virie, Lui Tzudir, Seyievinuo Chüzho and Joshua Shohe featuring Zubeni Kikon.
Expressing that the free music culture in the state has become so popular that it is ruining the career of artists, Pucho said in order to spread awareness that music is not free and also to do away with the free music culture, entry for audience would be charged at Rs 100 per head.
Nonetheless, he informed that the organizers would be giving away free refreshment, wristbands, stickers, badges and CDs to the audiences, which will be worth more than the ticket amount. He also said that interested music lovers can also get free admissions for music class.
The organizers also informed that a selfie competition has also began for the event which will close on June 20 midnight. Interested person take selfies and upload to social media with the caption “I am hoing to be there” and tag #WMDKohima#Heritage. The most liked selfie will be adjudged the winner and receive an acoustic guitar.
