Dimapur, February 17: In view of the general election to the Lok Sabha 2019 and in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India regarding preventive action to ensure conduct of peaceful, free and fair poll during the elections and for preserving public peace and safety, the Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer and District Magistrate, Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie, NCS has directed all licensed arm holders in Kohima district to deposit their arms and ammunition to the nearest police stations on or before March 20.
The arms and ammunitions so deposited shall be kept in police custody till one week after the declaration of result. The officer in charge of respective police stations shall issue receipt to each depositor and also maintain proper records and safe custody of the arms.
The order stated that non-compliance shall lead to cancellation of arm license and other penal action as per relevant section of law. (Page News Service)
