Library inaugurated at Chingmei village


Dimapur, March 9: To uplift the underprivileged, Nagaland State Legal Services Authority in collaboration with Sarvahitey inaugurated a library at Chingmei Village, under Tuensang district on March 7.
The library was inaugurated by Nino Iralu, Member Secretary NSLSA and Special Judge TDP Vigilance Commission in the presence of Chingmei Village Council, Chang Women Organization and Chingmei Range Students’ Council.
More than 400 books, adequate furniture and computer with printer were donated by Sarvahitey and NSLSA for the villages of Chingmei Range, comprising of six villages. The library project was introduced by Prem Prakash, Co-founder Sarvahitey, Limasenla, Master Trainer NSLSA and Esther Aye, Master Trainer NSLSA.
The Morung was constructed by the Chingmei Range Students’ Council with the help of Chingmei Village Council. The Students’ Council will also look after the library under the guidance of the Tuensang DLSA. Delivering the inaugural address, Nino Iralu appraised that the idea behind the library is by Sarvahitey- an NGO working for the upliftment of the weaker section of society through various projects. She said that with the common objective, Nagaland State Legal Services Authority also have its technique of giving legal awareness and service delivery to the underprivileged. Iralu informed that under such collaboration, the first library is set up in Chingmei village.
She urged the gathering to encourage their children to read books in the library so that they can share the knowledge with friends and family.
Iralu said that the stationeries and computer installed in the library can be used by the six villages of Chingmei range for drafting applications. Lamenting that these days children are not aware of agricultural practices and cultural values, she said that the library cam be used as a cultural exchange between the older generation and the younger generation.
The Member Secretary further lauded the Chingmei Range Students’ Council for constructing the Morung for the library and thanked the support of the Chingmei Village Council and Tuensang District Legal Services Authority.
She also felicitated the best performer of the Sochem student 2017.
Delivering short speech, Chairman of Chingmei Village Council said that there are 31 Chingmei Village Council Member and 13 New Chingmei Village Council welcoming the inauguration of the library project in Chingmei village. He therefore said that the date of inauguration will be celebrated in the coming years and thanked the NSLSA and Sarvahitey for bringing the library project to the village
Delivering welcome address, Vice President of Chingmei Range Students’ Council said that the library will be a pipeline of knowledge to the six villages of Chingmei Range. He said that the villages being backward, the library gives hope to the people.
