LH warns against recognition of LPO

Dimapur, July 15: The Lotha Hoho (LH) has come out strongly against the formation of what it called the ‘self styled organization’ – Lotha Public Organization (LPO) and has requested all concerned authorities to be cautious and not recognize the said organization.
In a caution notice issued by LH chairman Er. Mhondamo Ovung and general secretary S Aben Ngullie, the hoho said its executive council meeting held on July 14 had viewed the formation of the ‘self styled organization’ headed by Sulanthung Humtsoe, ex-MLA at Bhandari on July 13 as a violation of the Naga customary practice.
“The Lotha Naga customary practice of deciding on civil and criminal justice is an age old custom as also enshrined in Article 371A of the Indian Constitution. Hence the Lotha community, represented by its apex body, the Lotha Hoho, does not recognize the said unauthorized organization,” it said.
The LH stated that Sulanthung Humtsoe, ex-MLA had earlier been disassociated from the Lotha Hoho for 10 years, vide NO.LH/WKA/PR/2019, Dated Wokha 10th July 2019. It also emphasized that formation of any organization within Lotha jurisdiction needs the approval of the Lotha Hoho, the apex Lotha tribal organization.
Requesting all concerned authorities to take note and not recognize the said organization, the LH said the same terms and conditions shall apply in all such cases in future. “Any authority defying this notice of the Lotha Hoho shall be responsible for any consequence and in such an eventuality the Lotha community will not be responsible; but the concerned authority shall be solely responsible,” it cautioned.
