LH supports lockdown extension

Dimapur, April 15: The Lotha Hoho (LH) has appreciated and supported the extension of COVID-19 lockdown in Nagaland. It also favoured involvement of all NGOs and civil societies in the initiative to prevent spread of coronavirus in the State.
In a statement, the LH said since Nagaland does not have the needed medical facilities to take care of coronavirus patient, the only way is to prevent infection by extension of lockdown. “Continued lockdown is the only means for Nagaland to keep away the coronavirus disease,” it said.
The LH also resented the statement of Home Commissioner, Abhijit Sinha IAS issued on March 29, in which he stated that no organization is permitted/authorized to implement the lockdown. “The LH has the view that the present coronavirus problem being a human/social problem; the concerted effort/involvement of all organisations and individuals is essential,” it said.
“If such exclusion is deliberate, it can be questioned as to whether it is to avoid transparency since substantial fund and aid are made available from the GOI, state, private, civil organisations, individuals etc, for the effort to fight against COVID-19,” it said while asking the Home Commissioner to review his statement, or “if it is an official direction from higher up that higher-up must clarify since leaders are for the people.” (Page News Service)
