Dimapur, April 19: The Lotha Hoho (LH), Wokha has strongly condemned the assault on Dr. Mungshithung Murry by Nagaland Police in the enforcement of COVID -19 lockdown at Wokha town on April 17.
In a statement, the LH said immediately after the incident, it had been mobilizing public support for action against the errant policemen. But the victim and his parents amicably settled the issue peacefully and hence the LH has to honour that settlement, it said.
However the LH strongly urged the concerned authorities to identify each of the involved policemen and to take disciplinary action as deemed fit so that the errant should not be made to malign the police profession.
It also warned the police against such unruly act and to maintain discipline with the awareness that they are public servants performing paid duty.
Any repeat of such inhumane behaviour by the policemen will not be tolerated by the Lotha public, it warned. (Page News Service)
